lock failure

i have had many different knives over the years and many of them ********. i recently picked up a e***** and used it quite often in my everyday affairs, while using it to cut line the lock failed thankfully it did not cut me.
After further investigation of the knife i found the plastic were the spring bar sits cracked and could no longer support the lock. i was just wondering if anyone else ran into this same situation with popular companies with a great rep? keep in mind i have left out the name and company of the knife so it dosn't start a flame war but it was a respectable company with a huge following.

Why would it start a flame war? I think many people are curious as to what and why it failed.

Don't know why anyone would flame you for talking about a personal experience with a knife.

I think ******** sucks.
:D

I knew it wouldn't be long before the ******** haters showed up! No matter what Mr. ******** does in his personal life his knives kick butt! You're just jealous you can't meld cardboard and tinfoil into stabbing, slicing works of art!

Oh come on. Everyone knows that ***** is a major **** when ****. It's **** like there is some big ****** about the whole *****.

:D

i was hoping this thread would not get derailed, but whatever. things happen i understand that,it just seems that it would be more often that this would happen with the way it's designed.

Just give S******* a shout about your e***** and they will surly sort you out.

The problem is nobody knows what "IT" is. This thread started off so vague you invited the derailment. You can be specific....if you had a lock failure people are going to want details..pictures...etc.

This is probably more generic than brand specific. anyway. I had a similar failure years ago and was not even using the knife when it failed. The plastic supporting the pivot pin for the lock broke, and that was the end of that knife. The design kept some tension on the spring all the time and the plastic eventually failed.

Plastics keep getting better, and the time to "eventually" keeps getting longer, but when you use plastic for a pressure point, you are going to get some failures.

Don't forget the ever popular: "The lock may have failed 'cause ******'s owner is a liar/a felon/a carjacker/an idea thief/an exporter of jobs to China/fat/a leopard shooter.

It's hard to imagine how this ******** thread could possibly get ********* derailed -- there's ******* little information in it.

If you post pictures of the failure and details of how it failed it might well lead to a heated discussion, depending on how rabid the fanboys of that particular manufacturer are, but so what? Your computer won't catch fire.

So far the thread is useless.

Charlie Mike has a T-shirt like this thread.....my money is going on Spyderco Endura any way. I think there are enough "clues"
