Lock for closed position?

Recently my CRKT opened unknowingly to me & I got a nice little cut on the back of my thumb. My knife has a nice lock-up (liner plus LAWKS), but it opens rather easily with my thumb (using thumbstuds) & in the case with my accident, just rubbing against my arm. I love my CRKT anyway but want to get a nice smaller knife (2 to 2.5 inch...$30-40; for EDC &/or back-up to my CRKT (Crawford-Kasper) SD), but with a little more security when closed. Any suggestions?

You'll need at least a lockback, which has as closing bias... that means for a certain amount, you can draw it open all you want, but it'll snap close. CRKT currently doesn't make lockbacks.
Axis locks (exclusive to Benchmade) also have pretty good blade retention and would keep the blade close most of the time. Again, CRKT couldn't possibly make that because it's exclusive to Benchmade.
Your other option is the Michael Walker Blade Lock. It won't open inadvertantly.
You could get some Spyderco lockbacks at that price, and I'm sure you'll find something you'll like.

It may be a little bit small but the Kershaw Chive does have a sliding lock mechanism on it, it stands up well to pocket debris, has a clip and a deadly little recurve blade on it...plus its a SpeedSafe. And you can find them for less than $30.

As does the Scallion and I think the Leek has it too. My Kershaw Boa has a different type of safety than that of the Chive, Leek, and Scallion--a slide behind the index trigger that keeps it from opening.

just tighten it up, as long as i keep my CRKT M18 nice and tight it will not open that easy, which is good because if it does open that easy its illegal.

Another convert from the newfangled linerlocks back to the tried and true lockbacks!

I would give CRKT a lot more of my business if they made more lockbacks. Contrary to an earlier post, the do make them. (the Wrangler & MoSkeeter) Actually one is a perfect size for you - the Mo Skeeter. For <$20, it's certainly worth a try. (I have one and I can assure you it will NOT open inadvertently - you may have a hard time opening it purposely, which is one of it's minor flaws.)

I carry my Crawford KFF in an inside the pocket holster sold by Magills.com. It does a great job of keeping the knife closed while in the pocket. I too have had my knife open up thereby cutting a hole in my pocket and cutting my hand. I have also heard that the Uncle Mike's Sidekick pocket holsters work well for this purpose. I think the no. 2 size works well for KFF sized knives.

RH: I've actually forgotten about the Mo'skeeter from CRKT.
I don't really recommend them because the thumb stud kills my fingers and I traded for the M16.

You owe it to yourself to at least try out the CRKT Bladelock (a Walker design).
I think the lock it terrific and extremely strong (both open and closed). With just a days practice it was very easy to open and close the knife quicker than any other knife that I have.
The only drawback is the weight of the knife.
It's 4.6 oz.
Not too heavy but not too light either.

Good luck,
Allen.
