hi everyone...I'm new to Spydero and the forum, I bought a Tenacious and a Sharpmaker a few weeks ago, and I think I am hooked

my question is on the Manix 2 C101G2....... is that lock mechanism going to hold up over time?...it just looks, I guess, kinda .....odd to me

thanks

The BBL is a self adjusting lock, and the design is very stable. I would recommend it.

I believe that the caged version is better then the previous one. On the D'Allara you would have to dig your thumbnail into the ball to securely get it to move. With the cage you don't have to.

The caged ball lock used on the Manix 2 was developed and tested for the P'kal, a Wave-equipped purpose-built self-defense blade. If it can stand up to that, it will probably out-last most of the people who buy it.

I have been using one of those like "worry beads" just to see what happens. I have got probably thousands x many openings and closings - you can't tell. The blade pivot is tight, the lockup is tight, there's no vertical or lateral play. The only lick on this thing is that I cannot for the life of me unlock the caged ball without getting a finger and/or thumb on both sides.

I do outdoor activities including backcountry hunting, fishing, etc I go for tough gear that'll last. My preferences in knives include fixed blades (my first choice), frame lock folders, and lock back folders. (My favorite current folders include a large Sebenza and a Mini-Manix lock back.) Ive got a few liner lock knives but I don't carry them for tough use. Many of these are of a wharncliff blade design so the liner lock is fine. - - - But, I ordered a blue Manix 2 and am looking forward to seeing how solid the lock is on it. I've heard so many good things about that knife that I think I'll give a new lock design (for me) a try. - - -
