Hey guys. Got a question and was hoping someone could help. Is it possible to change the scale and liner lock on a mini-commander to the 0.125 frame lock? It would be essentially be just like the cqc-7 HD & cqc-12 combos, just in a mini-commander. I really like the frame-lock, but prefer the commander blade over the tanto and bowie blades. I am a novice when it comes to knife making & mods, so I am probably over simplifying this? I contacted Chase Axinn Knives and they said that dont have means to do this type of mod. I guess it would take someone that could make a piece of titanium in to the commander's shape with part of the frame cut for the lock. Is this really doable, or a stupid idea? Thanks in advance.

seems doable, although i am not skilled in metal work. have you contacted ernie? like you said they use the frame lock on several knives.

i am sure someone out there can do the job, if i hear/see anything i will let you know.

yep i have seen them done like that, if ya are interested email me and i'll send ya a link to the emerson forum (not the EKI forum) i know at least one guy over there who does that, IIRC its not cheap though.

I had one Commander in my shop for a low rider that had been converted exactly as you asked about. So, yes it can be done.
I'll probably be doing that to my own CQC8 in the future also.

Thanks for all the replies.

SIFU1A- That would be great. I'll shoot you an email for the forum link. I knew it would probably be expensive. I figured it would be around the same price as the knife itself, maybe more. Hopefully not much more than that, but I really have no idea.

STR- I was trying to decided between having this done to my mini-commander or my CQC-8. I think that the larger CQC-8 would benifit more from having a frame lock, but I carry my commander much more.

MORIMOTOM- Thanks. Let me know if you hear or come across any info.
