Hi everyone, I was cleaning my Sebbie and I noticed something about the lock today. Have you ever seen how small the area is on the blade that comes in contact with the lockbar when the knife is opened?? If you look close you can see that not the entire surface of the lockbar (the spot on the lockabar which is heat treaded) gets used to lock the blade (especially the top of the lockbar s end does not get used for lockup). Why is that? How is it possible that with this little contact such a solid lock and lockwear is created? You can see it the best when you close the knife and look for the spot I mean which comes in contact with the lockbar.

Whoooooowat?

Marc, you really need to work on your English first - you're literally translating Dutch sentences here and that simply doesn't work. You might try messenforum.nl, they have a CRK-section as well. It's a forum I'm frequenting as well. Oh, it's in Dutch, BTW. ;)

I think what you're trying to say is "the lock-up of my Seb seems to be less than halfway, is this normal?" Yes, it is. :D

Any frame lock where the lock face on the blade is ground has a small contact patch if done properly...thats all that is needed...if it had full contact the length of the lock face the lock would stick and be a pain in the ass to dis engage.

That being said...not all knife makers do this correctly....i have owned many customs that have issues with sticky locks....frame lock & liner lock.

Both Chris Reeve and Strider do it this way, and BOTH are high quality frame locks.........
