On my new large Sebbie the lock goes half way across the blade now. Is that normal? If it's not, what should I do about it? Can I fix the problem or will I have to send it back to them? Thanks for your help.

Based upon my experience, and I'm no expert like some around here, yours is just right for a new knife. About 60% can be expected after a suitable break-in period.

John,
I believe Mrs. Reeve said (in previous threads I remember reading) that between 50-75% coverage is normal. She also mentioned that with harder use, the lock may travel/slide all the way over to provide 100% lockup, and that is normal also. Using my Seb to cut up some heavy duty cardboard, I can verify that the lock does travel all the way over and was a little stiff to disengage.
Aloha

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I was kind of worried that I had gotten a bad Sebbie. Should have known better. Thanks again.

Mine started out at 50% and is at about 90% after a year and some. Lockup stayed consistent. If you grip the knife tightly when using I think it speeds up the additional travel.
