Lock Slip?

Am just wondering, can lock slip in a frame lock or a liner lock decrease or disappear as the lockbar wears in? When I say lock slip I mean the lockbar on a frame or liner lock moving slightly over when negative pressure is applied to the spine of the blade. Can it ever get better as the lockbar wears in or does it just get worse?

Are you talking about the liner or frame lock sliding towards the open position when pressure is applied to the blade so it's pushing towards the spine? If that is what your asking I doubt it as the liner/frame lock "springs" towards the other handle locking the knife in place and you need to put pressure in the opposite direction to unlock the blade.

Or are you asking if it is possible for you to wear the liner/frame lock enough that it moves all the way over to the other side and the blade not lock in place? If that is the question, than from my experience the knife just gets stuck in the locked position or works as normal. My Gerber Evo Jr if I recall correctly does this and works normally, and I have a Smith & Wesson I bought ages ago that did this but got stuck in place as well as a CRKT M16 that did the same thing and required a disassembly and fine tuning to correct both of them.

I hope I answered the question, I am not fully certain as to what your asking and I am not an expert on knife locks.

I had a few issues with lock slipping and none of them fixed itself over time, it became worse and i had to bend the lockbar to enhance the spring action, in fact i disassembled and somewhat fixed my 13 y old BM AFCK that way yesterday, only a tiny amount of lock rock remains ( which is ok to me after all the wrist flicking i did as it was my first linerlock ) but the lockbar stopped traveling.

This is the main reason i tend to steer away from framelocks and linerlocks nowadays.
