Hi all,

im new to emerson and i'd like to buy my first 2 emersons in February. My only fear is the liner lock, i really afraid an accidental release both in open and closed position, how tight emersons keep the blade when its closed, and how strong is the titanium liner lock (how thick?)??

Thanks in advance

The detents are easily "tight" enough to stop the blade opening in the pocket,
If your worried about it or are going to be doing lots of jumping/running you can always tighten the pivot.
The clips are set up for tip up carry so unless you have the knife in you back pocket or left pocket the blade cant open any way.

Liner locks are fine but I'm personaly not crazy about them, I much prefer the frame lock but EKIs liner locks are up there with the best.
The thickness of the lock is not actually as important as the actual fitting of the lock but the thicker the better obviously.
Emerson liners are usually about 1.5mm or there abouts.

What knives are you thinking about getting ?

i edc an emerson production or custom most every day, CQC7's, '8's,'12's,'13's, SOCFK's, and have for over 8 yrs now and have never had one open up in my pocket, not ever even once, thats not an issue with them imho at all, no need to worry of that happening.

the EKI liner locks are as good as any other brands liner locks, if ya wave the thing a lot, or inertia open it a lot ya will accelerate the liner wear, to a degree, but it takes quite a while before it wears enough to cause any problems, usually years, i have some from '00 which i have waved and inertia'd quite a bit and they are still fine, now i dont compulsively do it over and over, but i do usually wave it when i pull it out to use it, so like i say they have been opened quite a few times, and the '00 ones have the thinner locks they had for a couple of yrs, another bud has a '99 commander which he uses as a work knife (he's a framing contractor) and the thing has been inertia'd and waved thousands of times and the lock up is still 100%, and even if ya get one and the liner does wear, and ya need to get it adjusted, not a problem EKI will do it for free, so again i wouldnt worry about it myself.

Thanks for the fast replys! im gonna buy a Mini cqc7 and something else, perhaps a Standard CQC 7 or a CQC 10. i dont want anything expensive than 130$

Perhaps the only cause why i afraid cause i handled an emerson only once (long time ago). But i hope that it will do the job for me :)

Best Regards

Zozo
