How will the Pentagon Elite II (equipped with the Arc-Lock) hold up against Cold Steel's XL Vaquero and the Tri-Ad lock?

Watch this VIDEO and find out!

I like that two SOGs were tested on the weighted hang test. This ensures that one's failure wasn't a fluke. I wonder if it might be instructive to add a positive (opening) pressure test, as that's the direction of force that's actually intended by most manufacturers.
Now, Onto the Buck Marksman "Strap Lock" and Spyderco "Compression Lock", right? :)

I think the Arc-lock may do better with a different model with some thicker steel liners (Tomcat possibly). That particular model (Pentagon or Spec) has some of the thinnest steel liners I have ever seen and the scales are just some kind of cheap feeling plastic. I would be interested to see what part actually failed. My guess is the steel liners deformed causing the failure.

That would actually be quite interesting.
If the point is to show the merits--or lack thereof--of various locks, seeing the mode of failure would be of great value.

One of the reasons I was curious is that theoretically the Arc-Lock should be similar in strength to the Axis. The thing that likely lets this one down is the the materials surrounding the lock. In the videos BM produces its usually the liner that fails. They don't hang weights off of it, they use some special machine that pushes down on the handle until it fails.

It was surprising as sog claims "independent" testing of some kind, at 1000lbs on the arc lock. ..but ive never seen what the test was that showed that.

Good to see other locks against the tri-ad. Compression is one I'm wondering on how it would do, now........

I am already bored with the vids. Maybe you could drop them both from a hundred story building, or run them over with a truck.

Quite surprised by the result TBH, i would expect the arc lock to hold a little bit better than that & the steel liner didn't help. For those who cry foul play on this, Andrew was more than fair by testing both SOGs. For those who insist on having a "scientific" test, i'm sure the SOG will still fail first if the weight is 2 inches from the pivot.

BTW, i thought the Counter Point(1 or XL) would be a better comparison, since they both have the same form/functionality.
