It can be easily opened and closed with one hand. It took me 5-10 minutes to get the hang of it. There's more than one way to do it. One is to depress the lock bar with the index finger, and then flip it open or closed. Another way to close is to depress the lock bar with the middle finger and use the index finger to close the blade.

At first I was a little dumfounded about how to close it easily but it didn't take long to get the hang of it. I close it with the same grip as opening it - use your thumb in the hole and my index finger depressing the lock. I think it's an outstanding knife and highly recommend it.
