My buddy's well used, 10 year old Commander has lockup that extends past the tang and consequently, has some decent lock rock. Is there anything that can be done to adjust the liner lock?

Email EKI, get the warranty form, send the knife to them, get a knife with perfect lockup back a few weeks later.

Do you know what they'd have to do to adjust the lockup? Just replace the one scale? I don't think he'd be too hot on having the blade replaced as this has been on deployments and he's pretty attached to it

I've had this done on a Mini Commander. New liner and a slightly larger stop pin as well for mine. It was in their shop less than a week.

I believe you can download the form off their web site.

Great, thanks for the info!

I had a used karambit with lockup almost all the way across the tang and was going to send it in to Emerson for the $40 "tune-up." Instead I just bought the new hardware and had a knifemaker friend carbidize and adjust the Ti lock by creating some strategic dents that lengthened it slightly. It now locks up about a third of the way across so lots of life left in the lock, and lots of character to the knife. Ironic because it was sold to me by some low-life who advertised it a "lite use" which it wasn't, but all's good that ends well. The carbidization and lock adjustment just cost me $10 plus postage and the hardware about the same. Good to go!

EKI is gonna be your friends way to go they will fix that knife up and have it back to him in no time, If he doesn't have a printer he can just mail the knife off with a note inside stating what's wrong with it, They are good people and I have no doubt they will fix his knife right up.

They don't replace blades for free, so on that front there is nothing to worry about. Your friend needs to call and talk with someone.

I sent in a CQC7 born in 2004 for the same thing. I got it back in 11 days with a new liner and stop pin. Very happy with the service.

But you also voided the warranty.....

I've noticed my Kreined 11 is getting fairly late in lockup, but fortunately its still very solid. Is the warrantee voided due to the regrind? If so, I wonder what they would charge to install a new lock-scale and pin?

You have to contack EKI.

I also suggest sending a detailed note with things that you do or do not want done to the knife.

Always figured as much, but the Krein regrind is more than worth it to me.

I agree with you I had a kreined cqc-15 and loved it , well worth voiding the warranty, too bad I needed some quick cash and had to sell it, but I still have a stock cqc-15, Tom may be seeing that knife in the near future as well.
