Doing folders now? Most excellent. That's a really nice piece - I look forward to seeing more.

I think I like that 1! It looks real sturdy:thumbup::thumbup:
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks fellas!:D
Roger, This is my sixth folder...but only my second lockback. These little knives can be very challenging. I like how this one came out.
Thanks for the nice comments.

Ahhhhh into the folder world. You make such wonderful fixed blades and this folder is no less. Nice work!

Hi,

I finally find the time to share a few lines about Mace's outstanding skill to build a classic Lockback. I got the knife a few weeks ago and imediatly put it in my pocket as edc, took it with me on a little camping trip to belgium. What can I say, it performed very well at every cutting task i had, from opening packages, cutting bread, making improvised tent nails even had to cut through metal-wired-plastic-rope not the slightest sign of failing here. the design is classic, and i fell in love with it when i saw mace personal knife, during dinner when we meet in germany on his trip 2 yrs. ago.

fit and finish is great, i especially love the hammered-finish on pin's and silver arrowhead, the honey color of the jigged bone is a true dream. the blade hold's an edge very well, it has no bladeplay and the spring and lock hold the blade safe either in open or closed position. a nice and functional detail, mace blued the inner parts of the knife, so it won't rust quick, and it definitly makes the difference, while mostly every knife get's rust within no time in my pocket, this one didn't. also a proof of a very good bladefinish ;)

so thank you very very much mace, i'm very happy with the knife and it will have it's place always in my pocket!

a few pic's for you all to enjoy:

first cut, 30min. after i "bailed" it out at customs

Olli,

Thank you all again for the nice comments.
Mace

P.S. David, You know this knife is all Michigan. Jerry Van Eizenga took a classic Scagel style knife and made it a lockback. He is in Nunica, MI. I know he might be a ways away but you should try and meet him. He's a great guy. He also has a book out on how to make classic Scagel style folders. If you want PM me your address and I'll send you a set of plans for one.

Very nice, Mace! I like the idea of a locking Scagel. I saw some of Jerry's stuff up in Ohio and you are definately learning from the right guy. Olli, you don't have to worry about the steel in that blade. Mace has a big stockpile of the good stuff!:D

while i also wrote this to mace via e-mail, i thought i could update this thread also.

i had to do a large documentation for the company i currently work for, and this means, upacking tons of files, re-organizing them, packing them back together and finally have somebody picking them up to deliver them to our customer. without a knife, you'll go crazy within no time, unpacking boxes, cutting the old boxes up for recycling , cutting tape is mess with only shears. so i'm glad to say, mace knife cut at least 1000m of cardboard till today, and to give you an impression i add some pics:

also got a great use out of it, while pulling new tv-signal-supply-cord through our house
