Hi!

I know I should quit buying knives... But I am now looking a knife that I had which I had in child. I lost it and bought similar looking knife ( chinese rostfrei piece of crapola ) that wasn't nearly as good as my original one.

Both ends had brass bolsters and dark wood handles secured by three brass "studs". It had lockback and small hole for attachment. Blade was shiny and looks traditional "knife" edge and not like Victorinox-like rounded.

I've seen that Buck has some 501's or 503's in their collection and Winchester carries also similar styled gentleman's knife, those are very much a like the knife I am looking now. I am looking one that is slightly shorter than average 91mm Victorinox when closed.

That's it! That's the one! $35-45 Ain't bad. Too bad there's one place in Finland where I get it and there it costs $95 + S&H = eBay here I come in next month ^^

If you are looking for it strictly for nostalgia, then go ahead with the Buck. If you are just looking for a great knife in that style, check out the Fallkniven U2. Its an awesome little lockback, and should be easier to find in Finland, being as how its made in Sweden.

Fallkniven is based in Sweden, but most, if not all, of their knives are actually made in Japan.

I noticed that my U2 does not have a country of origin marking on it, in violation of US laws.

I get Buck for Nostalgia, but U2 Fällkniven as F1 have both been long on my drool list. F1's prices however are in such that I have not yet been able to justify get one of the best outdoor knives there is, strict because of its price and ergo its less likely of being used (damn stupid personality of mine )

But U2 looks very nice...
