Lockback knife problem

I have a small Puma Cadet lockback knife. It locks in the same way as a Buck 110. The problem is, when the blade is folded, it is easy to push the blade in and have it contact the metal on the inside, causing the first half inch or so of blade to dull. When this happens, the front of the lock lever also goes up slightly. Also, the blade locks with no wiggle but has some side to side wiggle when folded. Are there any ways to fix these problems?

There are knives made with pads placed in the knife to prevent this. I think its in some French Laguiole knives. They do this because the blade snaps closed with some force. You might want to attach a piece of rubber band to the backspring with some contact cement. Just a quick thought.

A properly made lockback has what is known as a "kick" or heel on the tang that prevents the edge from contacting the backspring. There is little you can do to prevent this, short of rebuilding the knife.
