Lockback material question

Is the lockback metal uasually made of the same metal
as the blade? For instance, I have a spyderco Calypso JR
with vg10 blade metal. Is the lockback mechanism made of vg10 also? If it were not would this cause premature wear and blade play. Stange question i know, but something i was wondering about.
