I once owned a Paul Fox custom. That knife was the first time a saw a lockback that was actuated at the blade end. The button or "lock" looked like a Luger's knuckles.

This one is a Parker, not sure when it was made. Not an expensive knife.
It can be opened with the usual thumb stud and can be unlocked with a push of the knurled button.

I don't know if it's intentional, but all the Demko Cold Steel folder's can be safely closed one handed. If you're finger is in the top of the guard and you disengage the lock with your thumb, the blade falls such that the tang hits your finger and the cutting edge is at a comfortably safe distance.

If this is not a designed feature it's the luckiest freakin' run. I know this works on: Recon 1, AK-47, American Lawman, 4Max and Code 4.

Has nothing to do with Demko or Cold steel. All the spyderco lock backs I've had can do this as well.

The AG Russell One-Hand Knife is very similar to that. A lock back design with studs on either side of the lock bar near the blade, to lift it out of the notch. It works really well, I’d like to see more makers use it. The Cold Steel AD-15 is similar style also, at least at the blade end.
