Lockback police, not a problem, but a question

I have a lockback ss police that ive had for a while, its a great knife, but i have a slight concern.

If i open the knife so it locks in place, the backspring which usually is almost flush with the blade looks like its wearing, and rounding.... the action when opening is pretty smooth, i think it might be banging against something, theres no exessive play, where there is some, but most lockbacks do that...

Put some Militec or quality lube in the pivot and work the knife a little.

I can't say much about the wear. I've only had my Delica for a few months, but I've used it alot (opening and closing too) and there seems to be still zero play and the only wear is on the pocket clip, a few scratches on the blade from use and carry. Whenever there is a little play, I lube it up and it works fine (the play comes around once a month usually not much, but not much hassle to get rid of it).

i dont know why lube would help with play issues....

i was wokring the knife and its very stiff to unlock it now... im soaking it in hot soapy water now..... gonna lube it soon

the only folding knives I have with ZERO play are my millie, ss 'fly, and new ss cricket...

best bet is to clean it out and see if it's got grit in there.

aaron I had the same problem with my Police. I read somewhere that if you used your knife around food that cooking oil was best to use for lubrication...MISTAKE!!! After a scalding hot water and soap bath to get the caked and dried on oil, I rinsed it off and dried it. I applied a bit of White Lightning and just worked the action. I got so smooth I considered un-retiring it and puttin it in the EDC rotation. Never did though. See if that helps. Take Care!

I use mineral oil or militec-1 on metal and g-10 handled knives... mineral oil or LSA 0-158(mil spec version of CLP) on frn.

I eat right off my knives at times(used my 'fly as a spoon a few times). hasn't hurt me yet.

ive lubed the knife like mad with militech, but its still pretty stiff to unlock it...
