Just received my American flag 525 and there is a bit of blade play.. all the older small bucks I have have zero play. Wondering if this is something that goes away with time at all.. thanks so much for the help

Blade play doesn't go away to my knowledge. It can develop or worsen with use. I've never heard of "blade play" making a knife unusable but if it's something that you feel needs adressed I'd contact Buck and they should take care of you.
