I carry my 112 on the belt. But I am interested in something a bit less bulky. I love my 112 but sometimes I'd prefer something a bit slimmer.

Open to suggestions. I am not on top of all the Buck knives at the moment.

Thanks.

You might be interested in the 501 or the 055. Here's a comparison photo of them with a 112. Both are currently in production and easy to find. A 503 might also fill the bill, it's like the 501 but the same size as the 055.

I like the wood scaled models that Plumberdv mentioned. If you are interested in plastic handled knives, there is the 444, for sale in Buck's web specials page (top knife, uses the same blade as the 501, I believe):

The handsomer 424 (discontinued, or according to Oregon, phone Buck and nag them until they sell you one)

Bantam BBW (handle comes in all sorts of fancy colors now):

Bucklite max small (has a riveted belt clip on other side):

The 424.

I've been carrying the black one, Canadian Tire, for years and feel naked without it as it does the vast majority of my day-to-day cutting.

The orange one is indeed from the Buck Company Store and only available in person or over the phone.

The red one is vintage w/o date code tang stamp. Notice only it has the nail nick of these three 424s.

On the left/top is the Bucklite 422 version of your 112 versus the new thinner aluminum 722 Spitfire.

If you're OK with one about the same size but much thinner, you might consider the newly reintroduced 500 (Duke). Overall it's just about the same size as the 112 but a lot thinner. Plus, like all the 500 series, it has a drop point blade which many seem to prefer over the clip point. It also has stainless steel bolsters which I think don't get marked up as quickly as the brass.

I have nothing to add but think my job as Mod is as much to say good as it is to stop bad. So, good job guys on getting OP steve great info on his question along with great photo comparisons. 300

My personal favorite is the 501.
As mentioned the 500 is the same length as the 112 but a lot slimmer. Same goes with the 532 same basic length just slimmer (can be found but not typically in current production).

I think it's great also. That's the way things should go here.

I just think that the OP who asked the question and asked for advice should have the courtesy to comment on what's been posted at his request.

Thanks for the pics. I have some options to choose from. The Price looks pretty close to what I am after. I will keep you all informed.

I wasn't ignoring you guys. Sorry. I don't always make my daily rounds on the interweb like I should some days.

Thanks for posting the nice pics of the 500 Plumber. One day I will be a 500 Carrying Man!!!! One Day!!!!!
Maybe I should call Buck again, but the last time it turned into a very nice 110 with NS/Cherry Wood/S30V Blade.
