I have owned many a Spyderco. (not new to knives). Just got a USN toxic green Endura 4 wave. Wanted to know if I wave it a poop load if it will wear out? Thanks :)

It would take thousands or even hundreds of thousands of opening and closing before you wear it out.I am doing a test on my military, though it's a liner lock, I open and close it every night while watching tv.It must be in the
10 000-15 000 range with no sign of wear. The lock spring is still on the first third of the tang.

Lock-backs can actually take a lot more harsh openings than liner locks. The surface where the blade hits the lockbar is very wide. You will develop vertical play as the pin keeping the lockbar in place is loosened by the impacts, but the security of the lock will remain virtually unaffected. How far the lock tab engages in the blade notch has nothing to do with how hard you open the knife, unlike liner locks.

I have used a native 2 as the only knife in a house of like 10 guys in university. We use it to throw again walls, cook, as a screwdriver anything you can think of. It lasted close to 7 years before I got a job and bought a Mini Manix. I don't think you can "wear" a knife out in a decade or 2.

I think you can, maybe not a Spyderco though ;):p

Between the clip, the wave and, hopefully only on rare occasions, the edge, you'll trash a truckload of pants before you wear out that Endura. ;) :D

Poop away.:p

The Endura should handle anything you throw at it. As long as it's not abused it should serve you well.
