Lockbacks: "Blade Play" vs. "Lock Rock"

My understanding is that, with any type of folder, "blade play" is when you can move the open blade, however slightly, up and down (vertical blade play) or side to side (horizontal blade play). Please tell me if I'm wrong.

I own a lot of lockbacks and there's a different, and much more common, issue with some of them. It's when, pressing the open blade with some force on a firm surface, e.g., a cutting board, there's some "give" in the blade. That is, the blade moves up a little, likewise pushing the lockbar up. An odd aspect to me is that this seems to occur almost as frequently with expensive lockbacks as inexpensive ones. What's the right term for this---is it just another type of "blade play", or is it better described as "lock rock", or....?

Thanks,

Andrew
