Thank you for looking.

Having fun with your new toys! Don't blame ya I wouldnt put them down either. Those Superman 110's are the first ones that I have seen that I said to myself Damm! I would kike to have one of those.

Excellent!

I mentioned in your other thread, that's the perfect visual aid for illustrating the inner workings of the 110. Now you've provided proof positive, to that end.

That's really cool.

Thank you for the kind words everyone.

Man-O-Man aren't these clear knives attractive.

Leroy Remer, legend in his own time, made them for me out of scrap bulletproof glass and 1988 & 1989 recycled Buck 110s.

I picked them up Sunday and when I saw them I was stunned. The deal was to make some tough as nails users with indestructible handles and old used knife hardware. They look like show pieces to my tired eyes. Leroy is Mr. Wizard. He never needs to prove himself in any other way as long as he lives. Nobody works with bulletproof glass as knife handles to the best of my knowledge. He taught himself. Beyond me how he rises to a challenge and conquers it with flair.

I took what you said about these being good candidates for illustrating the mechanism. Good idea. See the knife and understand it at the same time. No illusions involved.

Thank you kindly for looking.

Thanks for something really worthwhile. In addition they are great looking knives --bertl

My pleasure. Thank you. Leroy went above and beyond for me on these three and I really appreciate what he has created.

Cool oregon,I always thought there was a little Leprechaun under the scales.:)

Its there skyhorse. You just can't see em because they are clear too! Transparent little folk. The secret to tricky knife locks.

You know, transparent alumina exists. It might just work as the blade (I'm trying to locate a test sample, watch out Leroy). So then you'd have see-thru handle and see-thru blade. Maybe, some day.

Sweet! It all makes sense now. I carried a 110 for years way back when and never really thought about how it locked up so tight.

We are very lucky today to have so many different lock options. If I remember right , back then it was an Opinel or a lockback.

Just curious oregon that Opinel is about the size of a 110,what # is it?

I'm going to guess an OP#9 (4-3/4" closed)?

I think the 110 is about 4-7/8" closed. Handles do look to be about same length. An OP#10 is a little bigger than the 110 (5-1/8"), and the OP#8 is about 4-3/8".

Edit:
I think I'll say it's a #8, actually (I'm actually holding a ruler to the pic on the screen, to compare the relative lengths :p).

8 stainless steel with walnut handle (#9 is about 1/2 longer overall).

Sidebar: My son gave all of his groom Opinels, the Garden knife model, at his wedding. I got them out of Paris then because that model was new and hadn't been imported into the USA yet. BladeMatrix brought that model in, when I asked, later (it resembles what many in the knife community had made their regular models into on their own via modification after purchase, curved handle with lanyard hole).

Thank you kindly imafritz. That makes two of us. I wasn't prepared to enjoy them as much as I do. I had a different picture in my mind's eye that the way these actually look. They don't look like hard use manglers. More like jewels that cut real well. My hat is off to Leroy. Whoops, there goes the toupe.

You got it OwE: #8.

Here is a pic of the Opinel model my son gave to many of the men in attendance @ his wedding. The Garden model, #8 size, stainless. He tells me that they all still have the knives and that they also enjoy them. I tied lanyards for hours, in various sizes and materials, using the Reeves hangman knot.
