I cleaned up the entire handle of my Regular I got yesterday with

alcohol. The lockbar wasnt sticking before I cleaned it.Its sticks so bad that

I have to use my left thumb to release it. I tried pencil lead first and then

Remoil....didnt help. What do have to do to get to stop sticking?

Did you take it apart to clean it? Maybe it wasn't reassembled correctly? If you didn't take it apart then try doing that.

I didnt take it apart just cleaned it with alcohol and noticed it was making

rubbing noise. I couple of drops of Rem oil...stopped the rubbing niose but I

didnt have a sticky lockbar that I noticed then.

clockman, has the amount of lock bar engagement change since you reassembled the knife, i.e. more or less?

In my experience too much lube on the blade's lock tang can make things worse rather than better, it lets the lock bar travel deeper making a tighter wedge. Try cleaning out the oil from both the blade tang and the lock bar face. Then if you have any CRK grease or similar product place a small amount on the blade tang and lock bar face. Cycle the blade several times and make sure you see the grease thinning out on the blade tang. Once you know the grease has worked into the actual friction surface of the blade tang, close the blade and wipe off the excess grease from the blade tang. Cycle the knife a few more times and you should see some grease transfer from the lock bar face to the blade tang. Close the knife again and wipe the excess grease off the blade tang once more. Now open and close the knife a few more times and you should see a very slight bit of grease on the blade tang, I'm talking an almost invisible grease mark on the tang. Don't wipe of any more grease and it should start to stick less from here, good luck.

If there is a cure for a sticking lockbar on a Sebbie then I'm all ears. I have the same issue with a large regular that I got in trade. The lockbar didn't stick until I cleaned and lubed the knife (using the same procedures I use to clean my micarta classic 21) and the lockbar went to sticking. I dis and re assembled the knife until my fingers were raw. Called CRK and they wanted me to follow the website dis and re assembly instructions "to the letter". Did it. Repeatedly. Nothing works. Lockbar still sticks. Minimal now but it shouldn't stick at all. The lockbar on my micarta 21 doesn't stick and never has. I'm thinking the lockbar needs re-heat treated but I didn't dare say that over the phone. CRK, after all, is supposed to know what they're talking about. I'm thinking about sending it in for a "refurb" and hoping they re-heat treat the lockbar as part of the service. If they don't, I suppose I'm just stuck with a sticky lockbar. I've literally tried everything. Lube, no lube, CRK grease, Remoil. You name it. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING works. Good luck. :(

I'll be watching this thread to see if you get anywhere. Please post any success you may have and EXACTLY how you arrived at it. Thanks.

I've never had a problem with any of my Sebenza/Umfaan locks sticking badly, but some are more "sticky" than others.

I notice a difference in stickiness when I scribble a little pencil graphite on the mating face of the tang. It's not a huge difference, and it might not solve your problem, but it is a way of placing a temporary, dry lubricating surface at the mating plane.

Make sure you cycle the knife a few times and take a close look at the tang first, to see where the engagement footprint really is.

The lockbar on my Regular is much better now.I cleaned all the lube

off of the tang and lockbar. It was stll bad.I talked to a forum friend--

Mark.I bent the lockbar out a bit and number of times. It was still sticking..

I checked the tang. I had lube on it again.Kept bending out the lockbar a

bit more and its much better. It sticks a little..the way it was when I got it.

This was likely due to some bitty little particle you couldn't see. The alcohol would have had no impact on it either way.

Best as already suggested, to disassemble, clean, lube the washer-tang contact, reassemble, flick... fixed, every time. If the bending worked for you, great, but now the lock's a bit 'lighter' than it was before, and likely not as good/solid.

as posted by Fionafa"If bending worked for you great but now the locks
a bit "lighter" and likely not as good/solid.

The lock was sticking when I got the kniife(more than it should been &
not easy to release).I tried Bob P 63 method didnt help.I cleaned the oil off ofthe tang/lockbar for several minutes. It stlll wasnt any better.
I bent the lockbar out as Mark suggested.I was still getting dirty oil
on the tang. The lockup is is good/solid as it was before and much easier to
resease(as it should have been when it got the knife). The lockup is at 60 %.
