Lockbar tension

I just got my sage 2 and it is my first frame lock. I'm not sure if it's normal, but the lockbar tension is pretty damn strong. Strong enough to indent my finger when releasing it. Compared to my sage 1, it's much grittier and slower to deploy. If I take tension off the lockbar, it falls free. Is this normal and will it loosen up/smooth out over time?

It will probably smooth out after some use. The Sage 2 is a titanium framelock. Titanium framelocks will sometimes be " sticky " which is the titanium galling on the lock cut out. One trick is to use a pencil and put some of the graphite on the titanium's locking face. Helps reduce the stick. Also have heard a Sharpie will do the trick too. Hope that helps.

ETA: I just assumed you were meaning the lockbar is hard to disengage. Hopefully I understood correctly.

give it some time both my sebenza and sag e 2 took a while to smooth out. warning your thumb might hurt from the constant openings to smooth it out. lol

It doesn't stick at all. It's just the pressure against the side of the blade makes it slow to deploy and a little gritty feeling. Here is a video. You can hear how hard the detent is riding on the blade compared to my sage 1.

Gotcha. I find that most frame locks ( or most any folder ) have a break in time. My Techno took about five days before I could even flick it, now its crazy smooth. Alot of times the ball detent needs some time to wear in too. If you have some pivot oil, I suggest putting some of that in as well.
