Maybe this belongs under the stupid thing you have done thread that is running right now.

Just came home with a new cel phone tonight. Its an LG VX5300.

So I am setting here reading the manual getting to know it, setting ring tones and other such things, and I accidently hold down the key that locks it and bang, its locked!

Of coarse I have not set up a password yet, so how in the heck am I supposed to unlock it without having to wait until tomorrow so I can contact my companys account rep?

Any ideas as to a default unlock code for an LG VX5300?

thanks

If it were a computer you would pull the CMOS battery and wait 8 minutes for the CMOS memory to be erased. Does a cell phone even have a separate battery to preserve the CMOS? I wonder if just pulling the battery for 8 minutes would do it.

Try the last 4 digits of your mobile number.

If that doesn't work zeros are usually the default. Try four zeros.

Edit: your manual should have this info. In the 5200 model's manual it was clearly stated that the default code was 0000.

Four zero's did not work, so I am pulling the battery, and going to go take a shower. Will post back in a bit.

Taking the phone, battery or not, into the shower will not help.

:D

Gollnick, you were correct. Taking it into the shower did not help.

I think it just hit me. (duh.) The phone is not yet programed as I didnt want to shut the service to my old phone off untill I have a bunch of numbers in the phone book transfered. It doesnt even know what it's number is yet. Make sense?

(now that me and the phone are clean were going to bed.)

my phone has a reset hidden behind the battery. If you find it you might be able to reset everything. The first thing I would do after that is set a new pass code.

Great idea, but didn't work. I have tried 1111,9999,1234,5555, but no luck.

Thanks

OK, take the battery off and look for your decimal ESN. Should be an 11 digit number. Try the last four of that.

Or, take the last 3 characters of your hexadecimal ESN, and convert them to decimal. Try that 4 digit number.

I'm familiar with most wireless devices, but not those from your provider. Just trying to help you out.

Usually the default passcode for most phones is 0123
Try that. If it takes 5 numbers... 01234 so give it a go.

But usually when you key in the wrong code more than 3 times the phone is barred and you have to bring it back to the supplier.

Activated it yesterday and the code was the last four digets of the phone number. The key was activating it. Duh.
