Locking Laguiole knives, what brands and where to get them...

Where to get them is not a subject for this forum, as detailed in the guidelines.
If a Bladeforums Dealer member has them then it's OK to mention.
Thanks.

Yes, Fontenille-Pataud is where it's at in this case.

Check their website (in English as well) and you'll find all your answers, and more. Very nice and polite service too.

+1. The file-work that the folks do at Fontenille Pataud make me drool. The only thing stopping me is only having the choice between 12C27 or Damascus.

That's interesting. I'm seeing models on their website that offer RWL34 as an optional alloy. There's certainly nothing wrong with that.

Just for my curiousity ... why a locking Laguiole? The spring tension on this particular french design is rather strong. I never wanted any locking mechanism on this - especially when using them for general cutting tasks.

I second this question from Andi, the slipjoint is pretty strong on this model, and you maximize the filework :). Then again, no half-stops and with such a big blade a bit of extra security helps.

I show this David Dauvillaire one all the time, but I'm sure no one will blame me :)

Are they a paid Blade Forums dealer sponsor.

I've seen Mr. Andrew use one of these on one of my favorite shows Bizarre Foods! They must be pretty good since I've noticed that man knows how to cut but most of the time he is using that orange AO knife and yes I know what it is.

They appear to be a manufacturer that also sells direct, as do some of the other manufacturers that we discuss regularly, like GEC. They do also sell wholesale to a dealer network.

Thanx for info guys, those locking Laguioles are beautiful but I checked the prices now 200+ euros plus shipping. For the knife of that price Id prefer to handle it first before ordering.Anyways, that is what Ive been looking for.Just found Corsican Vendetta locking blade by same maker.will have to get one of those!
