Locktite for reassembly?

Hey everyone. I think I'm finally taking the plunge and removing the assist from my BM 581. I've watched a few videos and have decided to Frog Lube the liners and internals while it is all apart because I live in the near constant humidity that is Mississippi. When putting it back together should I be using blue Locktite? I've done this in the past with knives where the pivot works loose, I'm looking at you CRKT Swindle, and it seems to work alright. I also read recently about a white thread locker that is more of a sticky solution than a glue like Locktite is, maybe a better way to go if I need to adjust pivot tension?

That may be exactly what I was referring too. Seems perfect for knives.

Thanks for the move to the appropriate forum!

You don't always need locktite. I try not to use it if the screws don't get loose on there own. If you want to use it go ahead but only use a drop. Take a tooth pick and dab it into some and put it on the threads of the female screw.

When you dis assemble the 581 do it over some type of pan or dish. Besides the scale screws, pivot assy, springs the small screws that hold the main assy together are small, hard to see if you drop them on floor. Let them fall in a pan. On re assembly clear finger nail polish is quite sufficient for most of everything. Use a small amount of blue locktite then let it set up as soon as you get your pivot adjusted to your likes. You can wipe the internal parts with a lite coat of lube. Dry type lube will be your best bet and do use the CORRECT TORX DRIVER.

Vibra-Tite is vnice because it doesn't harden so it's not a one time use thing.

Take a look at the low strength or purple colored Loctite (remember, colors might or might not be the same amongst various thread lockers). It allows for easy disassembly, especially for smaller screws.
It's not the best for screws you adjust a lot, but for something you don't want to vibrate loose with the ability to take apart in the future it works pretty well.
