My lockup on my 0561 is at 50%, can I send it into Kershaw to have them change it to 10-15%? If they don't, have any of you changed your lockup? Does this void the warranty?

I wouldn't send in to kai...you could have the lock face carbodiezed though..

Is it working properly. If so, why change it? Mine is at 50-60% and it's fine as is.

It would make it that much easier to disengage. It came to me incredibly stiff. Its not sticky, its just really hard to disengage ..so I figured at 10% it would aid in ease of opening.

That would also increase the likelihood of unwanted unlocking though. Nt an option for safety's sake in my view. Did you try sharpie on the blade where the lock hits? I don't have any difficulty unlocking mine, or any other ZT.

I think it would still be safe if Hinderers come at 15-20%, but I'm still new so I'm just speculating. I have not tried sharpie because it is my understanding that you have to take apart the knife, and I don't trust myself to put it back together exactly the same.

Both my 0560 and 0561 had sticky locks while new, I put some sharpie on them and that fixed it until they broke in. Now that they are broke in, all the sharpie is worn off and there is no lock stick.

At first when I got my 0560 it was a little hard to disengage but after a little sharpie and lots of flipping its buttery smooth now! Just break it in and it will be fine. Around 50% lockup is more reliable anyways I don't believe the early lockup hype!

You don't have to take the knife apart. Just mark on the blade base, where it contacts the lock face. Open and close it, do it over and over. It took me I bet 100 cycles to get my TG Lahar to working smoothly on the unlock. Taking it apart and putting the lead/sharpie on opening and closing, I'd still be doing it!

Just leave it alone. It's not an issue, and not even remotely worth addressing by Kai's warranty department. If it locks up solid, leave it alone. The 0560/1 has a carbidized lock face from the factory, so just leave it please.

+1

As long as the lock is carbidized then 50%-60% is perfect, I could see wanting 10%-15% if you expected wear but it shouldn't wear that much.

Also, I like my frame locks stiff. Makes me feel like it is sturdy and tough.

There is a difference between the XM18 fit and finish and the ZT fit and finish. Just because it's designed by Hinderer, doesn't mean thelock geometry is the same. As others have stated, use it and enjoy it.
