Luckily I have a pretty good knife shop near by that carries mostly Benchmades. Was in there last week and got to try both Nakamuras, the Loco, 761 and Vicar. Spent a good amount of time trying each one out. The Nakamuras had crazy stiff action and Axis lock stick, they were also just to small for my grip. The Loco felt great in hand but just looked to crazy to pull out around non knife sheeple. The 761 with its ball bearing pivot had an action so smooth and fast that I had to be careful to move my fingers out of the way when closing it. Also the 761's detent was just to light for me. You could easily shake the blade out. Didnt like that. The Vicar blew me away. Despite its angular looks it felt the best in hand out of those 4 knives and surprisingly had such a smooth easy action I would have sworn it was on bearings. The Vicar was the most "built like a tank" Benchmade I have ever handled. I did not buy it because I already own so many Benchmades and have been trying to vary things up a bit knife wise thus I left the shop with my first ever Spyderco PM 2 and I love it. Kinda new to owning Spydies but have since bought a Civilian and a Yojimbo 2. Even though I am blown away by how good the Spydies have been right out of the box I cannot get that incredible Vicar off my mind and will most likely go back for it in a couple of days...
