Hi Folks, I was wondering if you know about or have any experience with how cured loctite 242 reacts to seeping oil in the pivot assembly?

I understand the importance of not overdoing oil application but there are times when I've been heavy handed. Is loctite in its cured form able to safely repel seeping oil or will its bond be weakened?

Appreciate any advice, thanks.

When cured loctite is unaffected by most oils. The only time oil is really critical is when you apply it, oil dramatically slows down or stops the curing process if it's between the loctite and the metal, and it only takes a thin film of oil on one thread surface to lower its holding ability.

Cool, that's a relief and thanks Yoda. I just use common stuff like WD40, 3-in-1, and mineral oil. Went through a bit of trial and error on my first few loctite applications but I think I have it down pat now after knowing oil can interfere with the curing.
