Has anyone applied loctite to their pivot screw?

I thought I remembered a reading a while back that there is no need to ever loctite a Sebenza but thats a vague memory.

I just discovered today that my pivot screw had come a little loose.

I found this from the FAQ post. Apparently its not a good idea.

"Do not over tighten! DO NOT USE LOCTITE! The knife is not designed for that and if you have used Loctite, the screws will need to be drilled out if the knife needs to be disassembled at some time in the future. This will require new screws and pins and can end up an expensive exercise."

I loctited my screws on a Seb I had a few years ago, and ended up having to boil my Seb to get the knife apart again. It was ugly. The entire screw/backing would just spin in the titanium. Oh, the humanity!

Professor.

Loctite would be a definite no-no. One of the beautiful things about the Sebbie is the ability to completely break it down and clean it. Loctite, as the others have said, would seriously impede that process. Just keep the screws tight by conventional means and let that be it. You and the Sebbie will be better off in the long run.

Red locktite is a definite no-no. I'm not so sure about the blue. A smidgin of blue (nary a drop!) goes a long way on machine threads and it's not difficult to break the bond if you need to.

I've had positve results using blue locktite on several folders, Sebenzas included. And I have absolutely no problems field stripping and cleaning my knives.:)

Good luck!

Red loctite I understand...I actually meant blue loctite which I should've mentioned in the original post.

I've used it on quite a few of my folders thus far with good results.

If that pivot comes loose again in a short period of time I think I'll use the blue on it.
