Anyone try this stuff? Not sure if it's new or just new to me. Think like a glue stick and almost the same consistency. Trying it on a problem knife that won't stay tight and will report back success or failure.

I have not tried it.

I use Vibra-Tite VC-3.
You put it on and let it dry, then it locks the threads even if you cycle it on and off.

If your problem isn’t solved with the chap stick you might want to try VC-3

I have used the stick, I think I first saw it being used by Nick Shabazz. I noticed it getting crusty/dried out around the top after a while and if your screws have any grease or grime on them they'll transfer it to the stick. It worked well enough and was easy to use just a tiny amount but I don't think it spreads into the threads as well as the liquid...you kind of have to use a toothpick or something to mash it into the threads and spread it around. I didn't have good luck just getting a small clump on the screw and assembling that way. I've gone back to liquid.

I always use liquid loc tite. Never seen the stick in person. I too seen a shabaz video where he used it. Seemed pretty convenient as long as it stays fresh. But yes loctite makes problems go away. Hit the threads with alcohol or contact cleaner first if you want it to really stick. I think you'll be happy

The key is a good cleaning of the pivot screw and barrel of any oil and old threadlocker. I use both versions of Loctite and can't tell much difference in how they hold. I've also used finger nail polish and even teflon tape.

I let the knife set from Monday evening when I made that first post to Wednesday morning. I've carried it the last two days and have been mindlessly flipping it open and closed trying to see if it will start to work loose. So far it seems good. I left it just slightly loose to keep it able to drop shut.

And yes, I always clean the threads with iso. I didn't mention that since I would have thought that was normal.

If it makes it through the weekend I'll declare it a success.

So I just learned something today at the auto parts store.

Permatex now makes an Orange loctite. It had the hold strength of red loctite, with the no heat/handtools only removability of blue. An in-between loctite. May be exactly what you need

It works okay on large fasteners if they are clean and no oil residue but I prefer to use the liquid thread locker on almost all fasteners especially the small size stuff. It’s easier to apply and it doesn’t dry out as long as you put the cap back on after use.
