Gents,
I recently picked up a Super CQC-7 and a CQC-15. When I received the CQC-7 the blade was very tight but also very very gritty. I figured it would loosen over time, but no matter how much I opened and closed it the gritty feeling never seemed to get any better. I decided to take it apart and clean and lube it which turned out great. It feels like butter now. The CQC-15 wasn't nearly as tight and opened great, but had the same gritty feeling to it so I did the same thing. They both open very smooth now, but I notice after a few quick openings, with the wave or by hand, that the pivot screw loosens just slightly and there is a slight amount of blade play when closed. I can use a finger nail and tighten it back up, but it loosens up again.
My question is should I use a very small amount of blue loctite to hold the pivot screw in place to keep it from loosening past the point I want it too? Have any of you done this yourselves?
BTW, just got my 2004 Commander back from the Emerson shop. It had developed a lot of blade play and the lock bar went 100% every time. EKI replaced the lock bar liner and put a new edge on. Its brand new again! I couldn't be happier. Now I can't decide which one to carry
