Couple of questions. How does Busse create the logo through the finish on combat grade knives?
Does anyone etch and strip blades with the older dog tag logo? I like that logo best.

They do a nice clean job.

I used Rofin Lazer at work when we marked Space Shuttle Parts...sure beats chem etching we did for decades.
Rofin rotary fixture was a cool toy to chuck up a coke can and burn a gazillion tiny holes...you can still read all the printing and it holds its shape but lighter than air.

Yep,
I usually etch the logo with ferric chloride before stripping:

So how about etching the logo while the knife is new? I've got some new ones that I will strip one day when finish wears off at don't want to mess up logo before then.

Or, adding logo back to a sterile knife

Using feric chloride will soften the coating, so you may want to electro etch with salt water. (Nate's done this with great results.)
Only way to add the logo to a sterile blade is to ask Jerry or Garth really nicely, once the Custom Shop opens again.
