New member here who just picked up his first Randall, a Model #7-5. I noticed a particular "Mark" or "Dot" immediately to the right of the stamped logo. Can anyone identify a purpose for this?

PS> According to my simple research the knife dates to the late 1970's or early 1980's. This is based or the spacer stack at the Hilt and the Roughback Sheath.
 
I could be wrong but I believe that is a Rockwell Hardness test dot. I have several knives(not Randall) that have a similar dot,
