I came across a boys axe today in a junk shop. I didn't buy but I did note the logo stamped on the blade. My googling has not revealed the manufacturer to me so I'm putting it to you fine folks. Does anybody recognize this?

An upside down Wetterlings stamp:

Sure looks like you hit that nail right on the head! I guess tomorrow night we'll hear about Alocksly's hasty return to that same 'junk' store.

Only because it's too late to go now.

Also....... thanks!

edit: while I'm there, does anyone want a Council Tool brush hook?

A well made question gets a quick, concise answer. Very nice.

So many people come on here and ask questions like "I saw a tool at a place that had a logo with a shape and some letters...anyone know what brand it is, how old it is, and how much I can flip it for?"

Behold my awesome MS Paint skills!

I made a note in the store on the off chance it was something neat but I honestly didn't think much of it. The whole thing was covered in several coats of metallic rattle can with a warped handle.

Most folks on here are careful not to inflate a new poster's ego, especially for those with no obvious appreciation of what it is they're describing. I think all of this was handled reasonably well in this thread. What we have to hope for is that the 'junk store' is not privy to these conversations.

I agree. I really appreciate that about this forum. The questions that are in one way or another asking "how much can I flip it for?" go largely ignored. Keep it up, folks.

Well, I got the axe! Since the "It followed me home" thread seems the most appropriate place I'll post pictures there for any who care.

On a related note; while I was googleing (googling?) for the brand logo I did come across several illustrated lists cataloging stamped brands on other hand tools (mostly wrenches and the like). Would a sticky thread containing a list of brands and logos be a good idea here? I think it would make a nice pairing with the axe info sticky for those who want to know more about the history of the tool they're holding.

Yes it would. But maybe just a post in the 'axe info' sticky thread would do. You could always go back and edit it later to add more links.
