The Lone Star Knife Expo is next weekend, April 8 and 9, at Market Hall in Dallas. We will have over 50 tables of custom knife makers, including Johnny Stout, Bill Ruple, Jerry Moen, Travis Payne, and myself among others. Jantz will be there with supplies, and Terry Dunn will be there with excellent stabilized wood.

The show has been going for five or six years now, and is the largest knife show in Texas. Hope so if you can make it out.

Because my wife had twins March 6, I've been a little busy, LOL. I will be bringing a bunch of kitchen knives, so that I won't have to stop and make sheaths. Here's a 12"
Western-style chef knife, with dovetail bolsters and a tapered tang, and 154 CM with maple burl. I will have this one along side several other chef knives in both Western and Santoku style, a couple of pettys, and a few hunters left over from a previous show.

Jason, I was there as a visitor for either the first show or the second. There was some nice stuff, but you guys were stuck all the way in the back of that big gun show with the beef jerky. Has that gotten any better?

I remember meeting you, Joe. The last two years we have been the only ones in the East Hall. The beef jerky guys all stayed in the west hall.

That's good. Are they doing a better job promoting the knife show? I remember that being a complaint. I also remember that there was a really good variety of table holders there, including Scott Devanna's people who were promoting the "new to us" PSF 27 steel and one guy who had a water jet biz. A good one stop shopping experience for the knife maker. Who was the young knife maker who passed away recently?

Are you thinking of Ram Maramba? He passed three years ago, if I remember right. We shared a square at the last show he did there. It was me, Ram, Tony Baker, and Warren Osborne.

Good variety this year also. Scott D will be there again, as will the cutting competition guys. Jantz will be there. Paragon will be there with ovens and some kind of new salt pot system. We talked to Maxim Oil, can't remember if they were going to have a table.

Has there ever been a knife show where somebody didn't fuss about the level of promotion?

Yes, that was him. Very sad. That salt pot system sounds interesting. Let us know what that looks like.
