I recently bought this and a Mackinac Hunter to give to a hunter, for Xmas this year, because I felt they'd be extremely strong folders when dressing deer. I have to ask would they be considered some of the strongest models with the Triad locking system? I would think so looking at them and the steel sides. They both seem to be extra solid. Both of these are dead centered closed, have evenly sharpened blades , they are hard to unlock, requiring a very firm thumb push, but they seem to be getting a bit better as when I first got them they almost seemed stuck open at times.

Jill, all the Tri-Ad folders I have ever owned or dealt with are stiff on opening and closing at first, but gradually wear in over a few weeks of use. Others have suggested in the past leaving the knife open with the lock bar at max extension for anywhere from 4 hours to overnight. I have never done this, preferring to let the spring break in with normal use. Congrats on getting a great new blade.... AUS-8A will take an extremely keen edge without too much effort, and responds VERY well to stropping. Enjoy!
