Steve, I just odered A DA Diablo and saw a post by you on the Harsey Auto and you mentioned the Diablo DA. If you have got a Diablo, how about a review. Thank you my friend.

At first I did not care for the Diablo as much as the Harsey. But after finding a way to flip the clip I found I actually prefer it now over the Harsey and have trouble putting it down. Its been my frequent user here on my property and in the house since its illegal to carry out in the public. I'm sure I could get away with it though. It so disquised that you'd never know its an auto at all. The only indication of it is that little "DA" sitting there on the blade which I bet has been bead blasted off of more than one out there in the hands of end line users.

I absolutely love the blade on this knife. Its the best thing about it. The handles, or at least the scales part of it are rather cheap feeling but they give the knife the appearance of an inexpensive liner lock like you could buy from Gerber or one of the other companies out there. The texture helps on this one but its still slicker than the Harsey because unlike the Harsey the Diablo scales are not rubbery at all and do not give to push in on them like the Harsey does. The scales on this one are more like the feel of most other FRN (fiberglass reinforced nylon) out there on other folders.

I thought to remake scales for it but due to all the precise inlaying and work involved on the underside to allow all the auto mechanism stuff to work without interference I passed. It looked like a lot of chances to screw it up after a lot of work.

Steve, this is a follow up on my post about the Lone Wolf Diablo. Man, I like this knife a lot. Great edge geometry and an awesome spring action. I like this knife a lot and is very sharp. Has excellent lock up. I saw some early Lone Wolf knives that had some problems but they seemed to have corrected that. BTW, could you repeat those instructions on smoothing out the bluing on My Ouperator's blade. I had to delete some stuff and lost your intruction. Take care.

I have taken the blades out for this but you can do it using some xfine steel wool under a running stream of warm water in the sink. Run the wool lengthwise from tip to back up and down and it should even out.

If not you are more than welcome to send it here for a retreat and I can do it again for you to try. Yes the Diablo is quite nice. I like it a lot also even if it is a liner lock but at least its well made and thicker liners. The only thing I don't care for is the cheaper feeling handle materials they used on that one but I've had mine off and passed on trying to make some to replace them.

I did flip the pocket clip nicely to my liking though. :D

Hey STR would it be possible for you to post a pic of your clip mod on your Diablo? I just bought one and was interested in a deep pocket clip. Please let me know if you ever decide to venture into making new scales for this knife. I really appreciate the help and keep up the good work.

Yeah I took mine off and backed out from trying. Too many little recesses and precise cuts to make all the inner stuff work that is hiding under the scales. I do note that Lone Wolf is making a Micarta version of that one now. I keep meaning to call them to see if I can buy just a set of scales for mine.

I posted pics of my pocket clip mod already on here somewhere. I'll try to find it and come back with the link.

Here ya go Kevin. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=540562&highlight=Diablo

Thanks. I wanted to buy the micarta version but it only came w/black blade. Being that this is my everyday carry/work knife black was out of the question. Let me know if you get any info on buying the scales separately from LW. Appreciate the help.
