Lone Wolf and Cub movies?

The manga and movie series of Lone Wolf and Cub were recommended to me but after flipping through the first volume of the manga, I decided it wasn't something I wanted to read (gratuitous nudity, violence, etc.). I like the overall story idea of the ronin out for revenge but it seems if the manga was a little too much for me the movies might be just as bad. How violent are the movies and do they also contain the other objectionable content? I don't mind gritty, realistic, etc. but when it gets gratuitous that's when I draw the line. If it turns out to be too bad, there's always Zatoichi.

Shogun Assassin is not as good as watching the original Japanese version. It's just an edited version of the first two movies in the series.

I think you should just watch the first 2 in the series. There is some nudity but nothing that bad. Violence is high though with blood squirting everywhere. Some people can take it...some can't.

Get the whole series and watch it. It's worth it. I did one fine day last year as shown in this thread.

How is the violence compared to the last 2 Zatoichi films? The last one with Katsu and the new one with Kitano. Those got pretty intense at times.

Is it anime or an actual film? Because often times I don't like samurai movies unless they are anime. Anime just seems to do it better imo.
