Just come across this, but haven't been able to find out much about it. Any thoughts/experience, where's it made?

Appreciate the help.

Jack

I came across it a few months ago, thought it might make a good knife for utility, I'm partial to carbon steel blades thou, it's also made in China, nothing wrong with that, it took a while at the time I first saw it to find the country of origin, I think it's under the benchmade umbrella. If I recall the price was very fair.

Good price here too. Thanks for the info sir :)

That's the first time I've seen this, and I believe that this is the first (technically) Benchmade traditional slippies. Looks fairly good.

Benchmade made a micarta scaled canoe stockman as part of their NRA series a few years ago. I have one and I think it's my only Benchmade.

I decided just to bump this thread, as there were already a couple pictures of it. I just picked up one today. Found one at two different B&M dealers, and I went for the second one with dark burnishing on the scales.

There's no discernible 'China' marked on it that I can see, even on the tangs. Dual springs, and apparently natural stag, make it 'filling' in the hand more than you might think. Everything fits tight on my example, with decent w/t. The glaring flaw in the fit is is where tang meets backspring on each blade when opened. Unsightly, but really not different than what you'd see in the average sodbuster, I suppose. Fits perfectly in the watch pocket, and has a solid heft to it.

I just saw one of the online dealers with it at LESS than $20, and that is a steal!

I have one - my second one as the first was sent back to Hennie because it had a serious problem in the main blade joint .The one i received in exchange has nice F&F and walk and talk certainly the equal of Case knives that I have and a cut above my Rough Riders . .It's very probably Chinese .I also have the Benchmade micarta stockman and that too is well finished .

What's the steel like on this blade? I'm assuming slightly better than the 8cr13 used in Spyderco's Tenacious line since this is 8cr14. Maybe something along the lines of AUS-8 or 440B?

Strange coincidence, I was thinking of this old thread just last night.
