So has anyone sampled on of these yet?

I'm thinking about picking one up and while I think the blade size fits a niche that no other makers are fitting, and the materials are hard to beat, I'm a little put off by the fact that they felt the need to add LAWKS to the knife.

Who knows, maybe the lock is engineered properly and they just wanted to add a little gadget factor to the piece... Given Lone Wolf's reputation to this point I'm leaning towards the latter.

Any thoughts?

I held one at a local gun and knife show. Big knife. If you are into big pocket folders, this is a nice one to get. Solid lockup and seemed to be built well. A matter of personal preference, but I don't care too much for the type of blade style. I would prefer a thicker blade overall, especially in blade of this size. I thought it to be a bit pricey for what is was, but again, this was my first impression of the knife.

i saw them advertised in eknifeworks, looks pretty cool, but its almost custom priced, about 269.95. wondering if it has left & right thumb studs?

I picked one up this weekend. It's massive!!!

One thing to be aware of. On mine it had a slight problem (to me anyway). Basically the lock bar did not have enough bend in it causing up & down blade play. The LAWKS would have been needed if the knife was used as is. I had to take the knife apart and put more bend in the liner lock. If you don't know how to take folders apart, this will not be an easy fix, I do, so it took me under 10 mins to take the knife apart bend the lock, put it back together, take it apart again to seat the detent ball some, and reassemble again. After this quick fix mine is rock solid, and does not have any play in any direction. I've stated elsewhere on the net that Lone Wolf should have better QC when shipping knives out the door. Of the 2 I picked from, both had the liner problem, and one had loose thumbstuds that required tightening. It's my guess that these things were thown together quuickly to get them out the door.

It's my opinion that these are built very well, and I now have 100% confidence in mine, even without the LAWKS.

If you get one, Make sure you can either check seveal, or have your dealer check for these problems if you are ordering through the mail.

Thanks for the input guys.

I would have mine in hand now but of course it looks like it fell off a conveyor in Podunk PA and was rescheduled for delivery tomorrow.

I'll drop a note in here when mine comes to see if I experience the same as everyone else. I'm a tough customer when it comes to QC so we'll see ;)

I just got mine and I'm really impressed.

None of the problems I have heard to this point are evident on my specimen, lockup is absolutely dead solid, blade is perfectly centered and the detent ball is fine.

I'm planning on letting it go because since ordering it I have purchased some other over 4" bladed knives and need to thin out a little but I am glad to have gotten this one to see it, very cool.
