I've seen plenty of Manix reviews, but virtually none for the T2 ranger. I was wondering if someone who owned the T2 could comment on it.

Off the top of my head:

Both similarly priced.
Both have S30V blades.
Both have similar blade lengths.

Manix is a lockback with G-10 handles
T2 is a liner lock with (?) handles.

Thicknesses(?)

The manix is huge, but the T2 doesn't look small either.

The Manix is larger overall, primarily in width.

I love the wood on the T2, but overall I'd take the Manix.

i'm going for a sub 4in blade.

so how do nylon grips compare to G10? cheaper? less grip?

also, i prefer framelocks, but i don't want to dismiss liner locks entirely. How's the liner on the T2?

The Harsey liner lock is about 3/32" and engages solidly , almost a framelock .

For EDC I'd prefer the T2 with wood handles. It's attractive, very comfortable in the hand (maybe more so than the Manix, although the Manix is also one of the few knives that really feels great in the hand), and it's lightweight thanks to the titanium liners.

I would think the Manix would be a much more solid knife. You are comparing the knives, but are there more specific questions you had about the two?

Both feature full flat grinds, but the Manix has a wider blade from what I remember when I last held a Manix in my hand.

The liner lock on the T2 is a solid one. I'm usually not fond of liner locks, but the T2 has a solid one.

I don't yet own a Manix, so I can't post any photos, but here is a close up of the lock area of the T2. Looks like the washers are ph. bronze? Maybe someone can confirm that? It also has a good sized ball detent which I find allows for a very smooth action compared to other liner locks and frame locks I own.

Yeah, it could use a dusting, but the lint isn't normally that noticeable with the naked eye. :)

The T2 in Cocobolo is like Methadone for Mall Ninjas :) It gets them off deanimation knives gently and introduces the world of natural material scales. I really like them, the Rangers are too big though IMHO. The T2's are just right.

Dang Wade, one good looking knife!

For the T2, I'd actually like to see this one a little bit smaller--maybe a 3.5 inch blade or so for easier pocket carry. The traction notches on the underside of the knife towards the rear look pretty aggressive too.....not my favorite spot for these, but maybe they're not as bad as they look. Nice, clean, practical blade shape and it looks pretty stout.

Have to keep an eye out for the upcoming (?) smaller Manix...........

Also always wondered why Al Mar never put out a smaller version of the SERE 2000. That might be an interesting knife too.
