I've enjoyed my D2 so much, I decided to see what else remains in the lineup since Benchmade bought the company. While I still see other stock in dealer inventories, this is all I could find as far as new product info:

Please tell me everything else wasn't killed. Looks like half of what's left are cheap "imports". Seems a shame when there's so little US factory production left, and some great models gone.

Look on the Benchmade site for the Paul and Harsey models. I think the Harsey D2 is now made under the Benchmade name as are some of the Paul button lock like the the Presto and Prankster.

But yes, the Lone Wolf Branded knives don't impress me much.

They have a few more Lone Wolf stuff that are rebranded

Personally, i think Benchmade bought a great company, with great knife designs and materials and turned it into something "cheap" looking!!
I mean does this...

...compare to this?

And it's not only these two, all original LW knives seemed aesthetically more pleasing to me. I even used to love the logo better than benchmade's!!
Fortunentely i bought my Blackfoot before it turned into a Swale:barf:

I Love it!:)

unfortunitly the 3800 is not going to be produced, there was a dissagreement between benchmade and harsey and for whatever reason they dropped the model. i was personally looking forward to it :/

....
To be fair you should compare things comparable - T2 was produced by LW not only with cocobolo scales but also with the same kind crappy gray "polyethylene" ones... ;)
But overall I am disappointed too. What kind of business sense BM management has - spend a bunch of money on buying a company and a reasonably standing brand name - just then to send it all down the drain... I do not see these designs to be so great so worth buying the whole company... It all looks really stupid to me. It is like there is a shortage of cheapo names and brands - so it is worth paying all that money for a quality one and turn it into something less than mediocre... So where this "brilliant" idea came from?... :(

The 3800 does not come up in the search "all automatics", so +1 on no more T2/D2. Why did BM do it? IDK but BM did eliminate a growing competitor with quality products. I think Lone Wolf was also close enough to possibly be an attraction for BM labor, but that may be a stretch.

Those scales are actually a kraton type material that provides excellent wet/dry grip, and holds up very well. It was also the key to the well hidden release in the dual action D2, which I own. That knife fell out of my pocket while snorkeling in the headwaters of the San Marcos river in TX, and I didn't notice until the following day. Fortunately, it was still waiting for me on the bottom when I returned to recover it. Since its out of production now, I think I'll replace it as my EDC with the Protech T4 that's inbound :)
