The new Paul® Pocket Folder is the first pocket-sized Paul® Knife ever manufactured. Designed by world renowned custom knife maker, designer and aerospace engineer Paul W. Poehlmann, this new knife is destined to become a classic. Mr. Poehlmann designed and patented the axial locking mechanism and produced the first handmade and production Paul® Knives in the early 1970’s. Paul® Knives soon became the standard in the industry for precision fit and finish of a folding knife. The precise fit and function of the axial locking mechanism has never been equaled in another production knife. Over the years Paul® Knives have always proved a great investment as all models have appreciated steadily in value.
Lone Wolf Knives has worked closely with Paul to scale down the size of the original knife to create the “Paul® Pocket Folder”, the ideal gentleman’s pocket knife. The axial locking mechanism locks the blade in both the closed and open positions for added safety in a knife meant to be carried every day in your pocket. The axial mechanism also provides easy one-handed-opening of the knife. Simply grip the button between your thumb and forefinger and squeeze, the handle is then released to rotate freely away from the blade into the open and locked position. Reversing this procedure will close and lock the blade. Paul® knives are simple to use, elegant in design, extremely strong and safe. We believe that Lone Wolf Knives and Paul W. Poehlmann have set a new standard for gentlemen’s pocket knives with the new “Paul® Pocket Folder”. If you collect Paul® Knives or simply want the best high-precision gentlemen’s pocket knife available today you need the new “Paul® Pocket Folder”. The “Paul® Pocket Folder” is packaged in a nice gift box with a cleaning cloth.

Wow...that's really cool. I think I've read that they are also doing some Loveless designs including a FOLDING hunter!

There's something I"ve always loved about the Paul knife. 420HC is a bit of a disappointment, I wonder about how many they'll sell at that price. Nice protos, though!

In the short time I've had this proto with me, I've carried it a couple times and it rides very well in the bottom of the pocket. At times, I've even forgot about having it with me! Yeah, the blade steel is on the low end but the machining is superb and the blade lock is VERY tight and secure.

What are the differences between this knife and the last incarnation of the Gerber Paul knife? Inquiring minds want to know.

I believe knives can be ordered direct at:

www.lonewolfknives.com

Distribution should be more general in the next few months. LWK seems to have hit on an attractive formula: near custom quality/reasonable prices. I hope they do well.:)

The one that leaps out is that the Gerber had a 3" blade (I think), this one has a 2" blade.

Along those lines, Gerber's had Zytel scales, while Lone Wolf's has a choice of wine micarta, ivory micarta (as pictured), and stabilized burlwood scales. These materials provide for a much more refined look.

I really love this design. I owned one of the original Gerber Paul knives, but I lost it many years ago.

As much as I would love to get another one, there is no way I will pay that kind of money for any knife that uses 420HC. On a sub $40.00 knife I would be interested. I will wait and see how much they actually sell for, but I don't think they are going to be near what I will be willing to pay. Too bad really.:(
