Lone Wolf Knives

I've only tried the "Loveless City Knife" and in my opinion, it was overpriced by 30% to 40%, based one the quality I observed, with a sample size of 1. If that's representative of all their offerings is questionable.

I think that the quality is, on the whole, about what I have found in Benchmade and Spyderco--- i.e. very high. However, they are higher priced than the average Benchmade or Spyderco. Maybe I shold be comparing them to the BM "limited editions" for price. Same quality, I would say. As far as the designs go, some I really like, and some I don't. (I own 3). Good quality materials, on the whole--especially the S30V. Really hlods an edge, and sharpens easily on the trusty old Sharpmaker.
Bottom line--if you can find one you like at a reasonable price--go for it. Or if there is a desgn that knocks your socks off and you would buy the knife if the overall quality is good---well, I am happy with my 3.

I have a lone wolf loveless city knife and I'd say the quality and fit and finish are excellent. It was worth the $75 I paid for it at a knife store; it'd been worth the $100 charged by AGR. The city knife has some unusual features such as integral bolsters and a unique steel. It was equal in quality to a benchmade park avenue I bought at about the same time for about 25 % more. For other products i've noted that there have been generally positive reviews, but complaints about the price.

I have a LoneWolf Loveless City Knife. I can't say enough good things about it.

I also have the City Knife and am pretty happy with it for the money. Fit and Finish isn't perfect but for $75 it's very good. I really like the design of the knife, though I wish it had a little bit better blade to handle length ratio. Mine came wickedly sharp which is always nice.

Deffinetly worth the money IMO.

I've got a Lone Wolf Tighe Pan, City Knife and Paul Folder. Nice knives, but Sebenzas they ain't. They are overpriced so if you can find a model well under their MSRP go for it. I would rate them comparable in quality to Spyderco, Al Mar and the like. Look at it this way: if you're used to low end CRKT's, Buck, and Gerbers you're in for a treat. Otherwise, they're no better nor worse than the stuff being put out by Benchmade or Spyderco.

I don't entirely agree with the above. Fit and finish and all their folding knives is very high quality - and generally harder to pull of than the other noted companies.

I have one of the limited edition Paul II knives and it is very rugged and has an excellent grip without appearing obviously so. I had the Tighe Pan and aside from the thumbstud design, which didn't work for me, it was very well built. The City knife I picked up had a very weak backspring, which a number of folks pointed out at the time. I sold mine, but it was otherwise very well made.

Price? I agree that their initial pricing was pretty outrageous. They have come down, and allowed the retailers to drop their prices as well. Their limited edition stuff is quite nice, but the only reasonable pricing on it is Ebay.

Is the Loveless City knife OK to use in rural areas?
LOL :D NO. And you cannot use a hunting knife for other than hunting, a camping knife for other than camping, a self-defense knife,,,,etc.........

It's my understanding that the pivot incorporates a population-density sensitive feature that precludes its usage in areas of more than 10 inhabitants/sq.mi.

Larry, I just ran your figures through my ol' slide rule and 214 knives in my collection just spontaneously disassembled themselves !!! :o

My City Knife is a regular in my rotation. I agree with DaveH on the price. IMO this may be due to the Loveless name. The Buck Striders are in the same boat.(Fire extinguishers to standby!)

Disassembly/Reassembly is good for the knife-knut's soul, Esav.....you'll be a better man for the experience!:D
Yea, verily...know thy knives!!

I have spoken.....;)

I have a Harsey Tactical Folder and a T2 - both have very nice fit & finish. The S30V blades are outstanding.

I like the city knife but the two that I handled had blades that moved backwards when pressure was applied onto a cutting edge. This was not acceptable for a $100 knife so I didn't buy one.

I also ordered from AG the clip point Loveless traditional folder. Fit & finish was good but the clip point blade shape doesn't work with this knife. 1/4 of the nail nick is hidden inside the liners along with a lot of the blade when in the closed position making it difficult to open. I'm guessing that the clip point blade shape was an after thought! The nail nick is fully useable on the Loveless drop point folder. I exchanged the clip point for the drop point but it's quality was very poor. The handle was unfinished and it had scratches and dents in the bolsters and back. Again, not acceptable for the $200 price tag...I gave up on them and sent it back for refund.

The Loveless fixed blade Utility Knife comes from the same manufacturer in Italy. If the quality is consistant with their folders that I handled I'd recommend only buying from a store that has a good refund and exchange reputation such as AG Russell. I've handled 4 of their knives and only 1 was acceptable.

Good luck,
Challenger

I bought one of their Jeff Angelo Fluted Folders that was more than OK for the discounted price I paid (about $105). While there were a few tooling marks in out of the way places I was able to polish them off easily. The S30V blade was as sharp as any I have and was one of the very few that haven't needed re-profiling to meet my (probably ridiculously high!) standards.
The design of this knife is excellent and it is very easy to open, close and use.
Greg
