I just ordered a Lone wolf paul Prankster....Should receive in a few days. Whats anyones opinion on them. Benchmade just bought them out not long ago. I purchaced one made before benchmade took over. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with them and whats the feeling better or worse after benchmade started producing them. Or no difference. Thanks. I have my eye on 2 mor of them if this one pans out. THanks everyone

i bought a lone wolf paul defender.

sure cuts flesh thats for sure.... left me needing stitches

like the knife though

they are making the paul models under the benchmade name...they got a number now.

i doubt they will have all those one offs that lone wolf used to do for them though.

It looks like all of the Paul knives were carried over, but brought into the Benchmade Blue Class line-up. Thus they all have model numbers now instead of names. If the one you bought was still called "Lone Wolf Paul Prankster" then you got one of the pre-buyout ones that are still in dealer inventory.

I wish I'd thought to move on one of the limited edition TiNi coated Carbon Fiber Defenders while people still had them at pre-buyout prices. Now they're at MSRP and climbing. Love the "Gentleman's Tactical" look and the 24k gold plated hardware. As it is, I'll be happy with finally picking up an Executive for dress carry.

I bought the Harsey T1-T3 quite awhile ago just because I thought they were well made. I can't believe how much they go for now~ if you can find them. It seems every maker has that "Hot One" that appeals to everyone and they get picked up on quickly and their value soars. For this same reason, I'm thinking I should have bought a couple more ZT0551's! :D:thumbup:

I picked up a Cheyenne and Longhorn, both in wooden handle versions. It looks as if BM is releasing these now under different names. The Trask looks like a Longhorn, and the Swale looks a little like the Cheyenne and Eagle Talon mixed, but maybe not a 100% match for either.

Either way, the current listings for these offer no detail that I can see on materials, but at their price point I'd be amazed if they have S30V, nice wooden handles (and variants for G10/Micarta), all while still being made in the USA(the listings say they are). The handles look wooden, but not really amazing, and if I had to guess at the steel for the price, I'd say 440C or possibly 154cm, but I'm not an expert on this stuff.

My Cheyenne is one of my favorite knives. I don't have a huge collection, but this one easily gets the most attention from NKPs for its aesthetics, the dual-colored cocobolo looks amazing IMO. It also cuts like no one's business, which may matter to some knife people. :)

Hope you enjoy your prankster!

Well I received the prankster today. Its a very nice quality built knife. The Paul lock system do take a little getting used to. I am impressed with the blade sharpness...wow thats all I have to say. I think Im going to pick up a lone wolf harsey D2. I found one with a plain edge. Whats everyones opinion on that knife. I found one for $190. seems to be a good price for a pretty sought after knife. Worth it?

If you don't mind the Auto feature. I haven't heard anything good or bad about it.

a while back I was looking for a knife to go with a formal attire and ended up with Lone Wolf Paul Executive CF handle. I'm very happy with it and would recommend Lone Wolf Knives. Glad to know Benchmade is integrating these knives to their product line.

The newer Longhorn/Blackfoot replacements are using n680 steel. I believe the scales are synthetic and made to look like wood.

One of the reps talks about it here

I've got a Cheyenne and a Prankster. The Prankster is a very cool knife, and the Cheyenne is a better engineered liner lock than you might expect. You'd have to take it apart to understand why, and I'm not recommending it, but it's very innovative (perhaps it's just the way Lone Wolf did Liner Locks). I wonder if the manufacturing process carried over to Benchmade's/HK version. I know they downgraded (maybe? s30v VS n680) the steel and I wonder if the bits of the knife you can't see, were changed as well. I'm skeptical of the Benchmade buyout/rebadging... I'm not sure it's a good thing, but time will tell.

The BM LW N680 Swale descends from the S30V Blackfoot, the BM LW Trask descends from the S30V Longhorn.
I have an Ebano Longhorn: one of the most underrated 3.5" folders imo - it is so awesome. Would love to own the Ebano Blackfoot too.
