Anyone have one of these models? Not neseccarily the Ebano wood model, but the Longhorn.

I just saw where one of the large internet dealers is having a closeout on Lone Wolf Knives, and I've always liked the lines on this knife. It is a tad shorter than I usually carry, but should make a good carry anyway. It has S30V steel, and I really do like the shape of the blade, along with those checkered Ebano wood handles.

I noticed the weight is listed at 5.5 ounces. For a short bladed knife like this, that weight would usually indicate a stout build, so anyone who has this, how is the build,i.e. blade thickness, liner thickness?:thumbup::)

Here are a couple of pics of this knife;

Btw, it is not Blade HQ who is doing the closeout. I just used the pics from the site because they do such an excellent job of them, and they always show both sides of the knife!!

I have one in G-10 , Ilove it . I am a huge lone wolf fan . This knife is my fave edc , when i am not hunting , but works well when I need to skin and bone in a pinch . Lone Wolfs s30 is as good as s30 gets IMO. I reprofiled mine with a nice long convex type edge and touch up on a green dmt in the field , Its awesome.

i have a few Lone Wolfs. i really hope now that benchmade owns them that the knives don't go to crap :(

I have a Longhorn exactly like the one pictured. It is well made, very sharp out of the box and very stout. I like it a lot and consider it one of my tougher folders.

this is my speculation, but i think they are killing lone wolf effectively. in their new catalog, they rebranded the paul knives and are doing an auto of a harsey d2. Basically they look 95+% similar but rebranded to benchmade. i dont know if that means the original lone wolf people are making them or benchmade is making them, but if bm is taking all of the paul line and the harsey line was already dead, and they are killing of the remaining lw manual designs, it looks like the brand is basically dead.

if i am right, this is very disappointing to me becuase i have more lone wolf knives than all others combined.

to the o.p. think of the long horn as being similar to grip/ritter grip with a blade shape in between...the steel is thicker, has fuller liners, excellent g10, and all of my lone wolves have come incredibly sharp...it feels rock solid. If i had to chose between an s30v ritter grip, long horn, or a regular grip, it would be the long horn. If they integrated an axis lock to the long horn, i might like that even better, not sure.

Thanks for the replies guy's. An Axis lock for this one would be great though I have nothing at all against a correctly built liner lock. This knife caught my eye the first time I saw it, but there was always another knife I was buying for this month or that month and never got one. Now that LW is out of business, as LW, I am now thinking about getting a second Longhorn, probably in the G-10. Is the G-10 checkered like the wood?

I bought two Lone Wolf knives a few months ago, a Blackfoot and a Longhorn, and both had problems. some of the body screws were stripped so I couldn't remove the scales to adjust the pivot. Both had side to side bladeplay which I couldn't fix because the pivot screw is underneath the scales. I know Lone Wolf would have fixed them under warranty but I didn't feel like dealing with it and just returned it for a refund.

Benchmade also recently bought Lone Wolf and I believe the Longhorn is discontinued. Would Benchmade still do warranty work on these knives?

I have the exact knife pictured and love it. I love my T2 Ranger even better.

the g-10 is very grippy if that is what you are asking.
