this knife is awesome. lone wolf knives are awesome, how come we dont hear more about them ? they are high quality made in usa knives.

i took this pic from google images. the knife says laredo on it, so they must have changed the name to longhorn.

I got a Longhorn a while back and it had 0 blade retention, the blade would fall out if you looked at it. I tried to remove the scales to tighten the pivot but 3 of the screws (out of 4) were all stripped. It was a fluke because my Blackfoot is fine, but I just returned it and bought something else.

Why are the screws so tiny though? They are the smallest I've ever seen.

I don't know why there isn't more talk of them, but my longhorn is one of my favorite folders.

Locks up nice and solid, and have never had any problems with blade retention.

I'm also a fan of tip-down carry, tip up just feels super awkward to me on any folder without a wave.

I have heard of some people having QC issues before, and as I have only made one purchase from them, I can't really speak to that much. I can only say that my Longhorn rocks.

the availability of the lone wolf longhorn, cheyenne, and blackfoot has been kinda crappy...

having said that, I recently bought 4 of the older harsey designs. I am waiting for delivery on one. One was used, mildly, the other two were NIB. Of the two, they were limited edition red/black micarta, one had very small, but noticeable, multiple imperfections in the micarta...It is kinda annoying.

I just bought an older ranger T3 4.8' NIB off of Ebay, have to see how that comes in. I do love their FRN and my T2 FRN in black FRN is my favorite.

Lone Wolf knives are very well made knives that don't get near as much talk as they deserve. The reason you don't hear much about them is they are a small company over here in Oregon and only have around 15 models available. They also don't do hardly any advertising so people just don't get exposed to them. I highly recommend them though, they are very well priced for the materials and quality you get. I have a Blackfoot with the ebony scales and it is awesome. They heat treat their s30v very well in my experience and I really love their blade coating. I usually hate blade coatings but this one looks really good. I really like how they checker their wood scales it makes them very grippy while still staying nice and attractive. They really deserve to get more exposure.

I've heard about them for a few years now.
I'm sure they make some quality blades, the styles/knives they make just don't do anything for me personally.

I have a blackfoot with ebano wood handles and I love that knife. Its really different looking I think but also really well made ... and the s30v blade is nice

I have one of Lone Wolf's Harsey t-3's. It's was and is a fantastic knife. Their fit, finish and lockup are right up there with customs and Kershaw. The S30V on mine has excellent heat treat with no signs of any kind of problems.

I've looked at these new models online and may spring for one at some point.

They put out a high quality product.

I realize this is an older posting, but in my travels there is a good cutlery shop in Carmel, Ca. that carries Benchmades and other quality brands. When asked what the owner's preference in a folder was he pulled a Longhorn out of his pocket and said it was his favorite - and he had one NIB in the back collecting dust. Never having seen one of these I was and remain impressed by the quality. After a week of carry this is a very nice knife to own, and after making a call to Benchmade's CS folks, was told parts are scarce for these, but they would honor the original warranty and it would cover sharpening and cleaning as needed.

If you can find one of these pre-Benchmade versions I would not hesitate. :)
