A couple questions for those who have seen the knife up close...Does the back corner of the blade stick out when it's closed? And, does the backspring hold it firmly open?

Paul

PWork - a couple of commments from a hypersenstive knife knut.

The exposed tang is a pet peeve of mine, I would rate it a higher annoyance level than the linked review.

The backspring (and confirmed by others) is pretty weak. If I were to compare the backspring to any of my Schatt & Morgan or Giles (Fontenille Pataud) knives, it would rate a distant third.

Fit and finish are flawless, as is typical of Lone Wolf Knife standards.

Blade is nice, but the handle is a bit overproportioned for the blade size IMO.

The exposed tang is the sticking point for me. Carrying it in a pocket pouch would save it...a little. I'll file this one as a possibility, but certainly not a must have.

Dug my LWCK out of my pocket and read the linked review.
dont let the posted blade lenght fool you. it has the same cutting edge as the Buck 501. The steel is a bit different ,but does all that I ask it. Iwas able to punch several holes through the doubled webbing and 2 layers of 18 oz truck tarp material without anty lock problems. This was NOT done as a test! This is one of the jobs I bought the knife for. It compares very well with the 501 stag and at roughly the same price. Another carry method is to put it in a belt sheath. it fits very well in a CR small Sebenza nylon sheath. And yes,I had to file the end of the tang. What turned me to it was the Warncliff blade. My first one.

What kind of fontenill pataud knives do you all own. I just ordered an Issoire Shepherds knife from Gilles.

I have a Corsican Vendetta knife. The spring is very powerful. Combine that with the "fly (or bee)" thumbrest, and you have a mechanism that is pretty difficult to overcome in regular usage.

I use mine as a picnic knife. Although I love Spyderco knives, and I love the Military model, my Corsican Vendetta is a far better cutter at the picnic and camp tables than the Military. Thin blade stock and flat ground. I have never jackhammered concrete with it and never will. I just wish that this concept could be repeated in a one-hand opening knife!

I really dig the vendettas. What handle did you get. Do you carry it in your pocket or in a sheath? I was afraid it'd be too big for the pocket.

Like the Loveless City knife, the Vendetta has a nasty, exposed tang corner that will eat flesh!

I always carry it in the leather belt pouch that can be ordered along with the knife.

The snakewood (amourette) scales are fabulous. I will say that there is a major flaw in the bolsters. They are cast metal rather than bar stock. There is an obvious casting edge where the liners meet the bolsters where the casting is unfinished. Is looks pretty bad. Other than that, all other aspects of the knife are very, very nice. I picked mine up for $95 before our currency started to die against the Euro.

I believe I still want one of these City Knives though. It looks to be a pretty decent every day carry knife. I don't really care too much about the protruding edge thing.

I think I'll need to see one in hand before I can make a decision either way. Until then, I think I'll pick up a CRK Mnandi.
